It was made official earlier today that a welterweight rematch bout between Thiago Alves and Jon Fitch will be co-headlining UFC 117.

An excited Alves tweeted; “Now its official twizzels! 117 co-main event!!! Feels good to get back to work! Oakland here I come… 2 words PAIN and BLOOD! Love u all!”

The two originally fought at UFC Fight Night 5, where Fitch took the victory with a vicious up-kick to Alves’ head.

Alves had an angiogram earlier recently that  cleared him to get back into the cage. Dana Whited tweeted that the rematch would take place at UFC 115 earlier this month, but White decided later on the move the bout to a late date.

Catch UFC 117 in August where Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will go head-to-head in the main event.
