Vitor verifies via Twitter account, the rumors are true that he will be fighting Superbowl weekend for the middleweight title against Anderson Silva.

“Hey guys looks like I will be fighting on fev on superbowl week”

Originally the date was rumored to be on New Years day in Las Vegas, NV. Likely, the bout was moved back due to Anderson Silva requiring more time to heal injured ribs sustained during his five round bout against Chael Sonnen.

Belfort will be coming off a five-fight win streak, and in his last outing  at UFC 103, he returned to the UFC for the first time in four years and scored a first-round knockout of former middleweight champ, Rich Franklin in a 195-pound catchweight bout.

Silva, meanwhile, moved to 12-0 in the organization and made his record seventh straight successful UFC title defense with the August win over Sonnen. Sonnen later was found to be using performance enhancing drugs (PEDs) when he failed his test for unnaturally high levels of testosterone.
