In a week where the UFC has made several cuts to its roster, it appears as though the promotion has signed highly regarded, free agent welterweight Brandon Thatch. According to a report from MMA, the promotion has signed the 9-1 fighter to a mult-fight contract. It remains to be seen when and who Thatch will face in his Octagon debut.

The 27 year-old Thatch has been working his way towards a big time deal like this for sometime, as the Colorado fighter is riding an eight fight win streak, which includes bouts with Resurrection Fighting Alliance, Instinct MMA and Ring of Fire. Thatch trains out of the renowned Grudge Training Center and also helped Georges St. Pierre prepare for his bout with Carlos Condit in November.

In April, Thatch appeared on MMA Radio and stated the following about his UFC aspirations.

“I train with UFC athletes all the time and I feel like I’m at the same level – or if not, just a little under,” he said. “I feel like I’m ready for the big leagues, and there’s no reason I couldn’t compete (in the UFC).”

Looks like MMA fans and pundits will soon find out. The UFC has not made any official announcement about the reported signing.
