Following his impressive, blowout victory over Justin Edwards at UFC Fight Night 27 last month, rising welterweight Brandon Thatch has reportedly been tapped to fight rugged vet Paulo Thiago next.

Thiago tweeted news of the match-up, which he says will take place at the November 9th, UFC FN 32 card in Goiania, Brazil. The UFC had not made any official announcement regarding the bout as of Saturday afternoon.

The 32 year-old, Brazilian fighter recently got back on the winning track, after dropping consecutive bouts to Siyar Bahadurzada and Dong Hyun Kim. Most recently, Thiago (15-5) worked his way to a unanimous decision victory over Michel Richard dos Prazeres at UFC on FX 8 in May. Thiago, who shocked the MMA world by knocking out Josh Koscheck in his Octagon debut, has gone 5-5 in the UFC to date.

Thiago had been scheduled to fight Kelvin Gastelum at UFC FN 27 but had to drop out due to injury.

Thatch (10-1) lived up to the hype that accompanied his UFC debut in August (with his aforementioned win over Edwards), which was the 28 year-old’s ninth straight. The Grudge Training Center fighter, who has also trained with Georges St. Pierre in the past, has scored stoppages or submissions in all 10 of his pro wins.

So, it’s going to be interesting to see how Thatch matches up against an experienced vet like Thiago, who also holds black belts in BJJ and Judo.

UFC FN 32 will be headlined by a light-heavyweight bout between Dan Henderson and middleweight contender Vitor Belfort.
