Following the UFC 161 headline victory for Rashad Evans over Pride FC legend Dan Henderson, the former champ showed no problem in quickly showing interest to get back in the cage with one of the best and proving that he could once again be a contender.

“Whoever the UFC puts against me, I’m there. I heard that Glover said he’d like to have a fight with the winner. I’m not calling anybody out, but whoever the UFC says will be a good fight, I’m not turning anybody down. I like the fight.” – UFC Tonight

The match makes sense as obviously Teixeira wouldn’t mind a named opponent like “Suga” next. According to Teixeira’s manager Ed Soares, the plan had been to fight the winner of Hendo – Rashad. With Evans also interested in the fight, Teixeira has now likely received his contender status bout. The win would put Teixeira on an impressive 20 fight win-streak, making it tough for UFC match-makers to deny the Brazilian.

A question left for the likely bout — is the contender status legitimate for Evans in a win as well? After a definitive loss to current champ Jon Jones, followed by a lackluster performance loss to Antonio Rogerio Nogueria at UFC 156. We may want to see Evans raise your hand one more time after defeating Glover. Agree?
