The Nottingham card is slowly filling up. Today Matt Wiman was added to the card in a bout against Paul Sass. This match could be classified as a veteran facing the up-and-comer, and that may be hard to realize when Wiman is only 28 years old.
Matt Wiman is a very good fighter, and has only gotten better since entering the UFC. His overall record is 8-4 in the octagon, and he is 4-1 in his last five fights. The problem with Wiman is while he’s good at many things, he’s not great at any one thing. He has never been submitted so it will be a real testament if Sass can pull it off.
Paul Sass is one fighter who has really earned his nickname. Having 9 of his 13 wins by triangle choke is impressive, but that he has finished all but one of his bouts is even more impressive. The one thing that will really test Sass in this bout is trying to get the finish. What will happen if he has to fight all three rounds? In the end, he’s making up for lost time by getting in another fight this year after only fighting once a year since joining the UFC in 2010.
