Roy Nelson (19-7) makes it three straight as he takes out kickboxing specialist Cheick Kongo (18-8-2) at UFC 159 in Newark, New Jersey.  The fight only lasted half a round as “Big Country” landed an over the top right, behind the ear of Kongo, dropping him to the ground. It only took one more follow up shot as Kongo attempted to rise, to put his opponents lights out.

Official: Roy Nelson defeats Cheick Kongo via KO (punch) – Round 1, 2:03

“Big Country” is now 4-1 as of late, only dropping a loss to the “Fedor killer” Fabricio Werdum recently. After taking out Crocop, Herman, Mitrione and now Kongo, talks of a move down to light heavyweight are likely to silence (for now). Following the win, Nelson had attempted to make his case for a title shot at the winner of the upcoming Velasquez vs. Bigfoot. Whether the knockout artist will have his wish granted is anyone’s guess at this point.
