UFC welterweight Mike Pierce spoke to MMAJunkie radio recently and gave his thoughts on two warriors he would like to fight inside the octagon. Pierce called out Robbie Lawler and Jake Ellenberger.

“There’s no animosity; I don’t hate their guts, I just think they’re two guys that are really relevant that would make great matchups, and I’d love to get in there and beat them down,”

Appearantly Ellenberger did not respond to the comments, while Lawler’s manager texted that Lawler “will get a bigger name.”

Pierce fought five times in 13 months before his recent three month vacation from the cage. He is 4-1 in his last five foughts with his only loss coming to the hands of Josh Koscheck in a ver close split decision back at UFC 143 in Las Vegas.

Lawler is only 5-5 in his last ten fights, but is coming off a first round TKO victory over long time welterweight contender Josh Koscheck. Lawler’s manager claims he will get a bigger name, but as far as rankings are concerned I think this matchup seems suitable.

Ellenberger is 8-2 in his last ten fights and his coming off a huge first round knockout victory over Nate Marquardt last month at UFC 158. At this point, Ellenberger is most likely ranked  to high in the divison to be matched up with Pierce.

Let’s see if the UFC grants Pierce his wishes….
