Just a few weeks ago, everything seemed in place for Miesha Tate.

After securing her fourth straight win, the former Strikeforce titlist was sure she had earned another shot at her nemesis, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey.

Now, as she puts it, her career is in limbo.

Back on July 25th in Chicago, Tate defeated another top ten bantamweight in Jessica Eye, and seemed poised for another shot at the belt. She was hailed by UFC President Dana White at the post-fight press conference:

“Yeah, she is (No. 1 contender),” White said. “You know, Miesha is such a durable human being. She will stand in front of you and take what you’ve got. Because she was getting picked apart in that first round. She keeps coming forward to land what she has to land or get you to the ground or do what she has to do to win. She did it again tonight. She has worked her way back to Ronda Rousey.”

But, all that went up in smoke last month, as Rousey announced her next opponent would be Holly Holm.

“It’s not fair,” Tate said in an interview with Ground & Pound TV released yesterday. “But life isn’t fair sometimes, so it’s just a matter of figuring my next step. I’m just frustrated with the whole situation.”

Tate has been rumored to be fighting Amanda Nunes next, but she denies the fight has been agreed upon.

“Never was,” said Tate. “I’m very frustrated with the UFC. I’m not in a position where I feel like I need to be pushed around. It makes no sense to me why I’m not the champion and yet I’m fighting all the number one contenders. Amanda Nunes is ranked number four in the world and Holm is ranked number eight in the world.”

“I’m fighting better girls than the champion is fighting and I’m not getting paid what the champion is getting paid,” she continued. “It’s the champion’s job to fight the best girls in the world.”

So, what’s next?

“I don’t know,” she admitted. “I’m just in an awkward stage in my career, where I don’t know what the next step in my career is. I do know I won’t be pushed around by anybody.”
