The Count vs. The Barbarian – sounds like a premise out of a Spike television show. Michael Bisping vs. Tim Boetsch has now been made official for UFC 149 on July 21st in Calgary, Canada. Originally planned for UFC 148, the two have been transplanted to the lighter stacked UFC 149 card – headlined by a featherweight title fight between Jose Aldo vs. Erik Koch. Also on the card is co-headliners Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua vs. Thiago Silva. The card may now be deemed a ‘stacked card’ as well.

The U.K. fighter will be looking to return to the win column after suffering a controversial decision loss to top contender Chael Sonnen at UFC on Fox in Jan. Prior to the defeat, Bisping held a four-fight winstreak in the promotion, included finishes of Jason ‘Mayhem’ Miller and Jorge Rivera. Bisping is likely still hovering in the top five of the division with his overall record, and will likely be a considerable contender with an impressive win here.

Boetsch on the other hand is looking to earn his fourth straight victory, after finishing Yushin Okami in an impressive TKO┬ácomeback in his opponents backyard of Saitama, Japan. The Barbarian has been on a 7-1 streak, only falling short to wrestler Phil Davis via ‘wonderbar‘ submission at UFC 123.
