Now that Michael Bisping will officially throw down with Mark Munoz on October 26th in Manchester, it hasn’t taken long for “The Count” to start with the zingers, which is why he continues to be one of the game’s biggest names. The fact that Bisping has gone 14-5 in the UFC to date, and has defeated several top tier fighters, has something to do with it as well.
The UFC Fight Night in Manchester main event is a big fight for both guys, as it features the #4 ranked middleweight in Bisping taking on the #6 Munoz. So what does Bisping think of the “The Filipino Wrecking Machine”? Who is a ridiculously talented wrestler and is equipped with one of the sport’s most feared top games? While speaking on the latest edition of “UFC Tonight”, Bisping offered this:
“He’s a great wrestler, but I think he’s one dimensional. Anybody who refers to themselves as having a Donkey Kong style, I refuse to lose to. I’m far too skilled for him. He’s going to try to take me to the ground and use these stupid punches that he throws. He’s very powerful and I’m not underestimating him. He’s a very accomplished wrestler. Listen, I’m going to punch him in the face repeatedly and eventually he’s going to fall down. On October 26, I’m going to kick his ass, and no one’s even going to think about him anymore. If they thought he was depressed before, on October 27, the day after the fight, he’s going to be really more depressed then.”
Wow. Now that’s what you call a ‘bold prediction’ no? To be fair, Bisping’s wrestling skills often do get overlooked, and he has presented decorated wrestlers like Chael Sonnen difficulties in the past. But, no fighter wants to ‘experience’ the ground-and-pound game of Munoz for too long. It’s a great fight with a lot riding on it.
