Matt Mitrione has been booked for a UFC on FOX 8 bout with Brendan Schaub, approximately two weeks after the former was banned and fined for his verbal attack on transgender fighter Fallon Fox. The fight will take place July 27th in Seattle.

When news of the booking was brought up at a pre-UFC 159 media event today in New Jersey, UFC Light-Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones didn’t hold back on what he thinks of Mitrione.

According to a report from MMA Junkie, Jones said Mitrione “is terrible” for the rant he directed at Fox, and that further:

“People like Matt Mitrione are scumbags. He’s a scumbag. I don’t care if he’s off suspension or doesn’t fight again. He’s a ridiculous person.”

Mitrione’s participation at UFC on FOX 8 means that he will step into the Octagon approximately four months after he stopped Philip De Fries at UFC on FUEL TV 9 in Sweden. The win over De Fries ended a two fight losing streak for Mitrione, as the TUF vet was coming off back-to-back losses to Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo.

Unless you’re new to the Internet, you likely know that Jones will fight Chael Sonnen Saturday night at UFC 159, which will go down at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
