It hasn’t been long since Chael Sonnen buzzed the MMA world by challenging Rashad Evans to a scrap at UFC 167, and by the sounds of it, “Suga” believes the fight could get booked.
In case you missed it, Sonnen asked Evans via Twitter if he “was busy Nov. 16th”, and after saying his schedule was clear, the former champ relayed the proposed bout was a “good idea.” Now, in a follow up report with MMA Junkie.com, Evans had the following to say about Sonnen’s challenge.
“I think it’s something that definitely could happen,” Evans said. “I think it’s the fight that makes sense for both of us. Even though we are friends and we have a great relationship, we have the same goal, and we’re in the same weight class.”
And what prompted Sonnen to make the call out? Well, “The American Gangster” was quoted saying in the aforementioned story:
“I got bored waiting for a chump, and I needed a challenge,” Sonnen said. “And Rashad is a challenge with a capital ‘C.'”
Of course, Sonnen challenged Wanderlei Silva after he took out “Shogun” Rua with a first round, guillotine choke at UFC FN 26, but Wand apparently isn’t healthy and likely wont’t fight until 2014. This week there was also talk of a Sonnen-Phil Davis bout, but as of right now, it looks like UFC 167 could feature Evans-Sonnen.
