Well it looks as though an earlier report that Brock Lesnar would be defending his title against Cain Velasquez at UFC 119 is FALSE. The two will still be meeting up, but just at a later date.
Dana White made a comment leading up to UFC 116 that whomever won the Lesner vs. Carwin bout would get a shot at Cain Velasquez “as soon as possible.” It seems that someone took that quite literally and came up with the UFC 119 bout rumor. White has mentioned to many different media sources that the fighters will NOT be going head-to-head in September and has yet to issue an official date for the bout.
And Lesnar as well is in no rush to make yet another title defense so soon, he stated recently;
“I’m expecting a baby in two weeks,” Lesnar said. “My wife’s been a trooper. She’s been pregnant for 18 months these past two years.”
Along with spending time with his family, Lesnar plans on looking after his family farm as well.
“I’m going home tonight,” said Lesnar. “I’m going to visit some family when I get home, and I’ve got some combining. I’m a farmer now, and I’m doing what I love to do. I’ve got some combining to do this fall, and I want to shoot a white-tailed deer and spend time with my family.”
So it looks as though the Lesnar vs. Velasquez bout will not be happening as soon as expected, but as more news comes in we’ll keep you guys posted!
