Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann (19-5) pulls a last minute submission over Thiago “Pitbull” Alves (19-9) at UFC on FX 2 in Sydney, Australia. What may have likely been a unanimous decision victory for Alves, ended with Kampmann wrapping up the neck and getting the tap at 4:13 of round three.   Here is your full fight play by play.

Round One:
Alves stalks to the center and lands first to the mid-section. Kampmann clinches and gets it to the ground briefly.Kampmann injurys Alves with a kick to the jaw. Kampmann follows up with an easy takedown. Alves looks to have shook the webs, but now is breathing from his left eye brow. Alves gets it down and advances to half guard and then full mount. The bigger Alves now raining down small rabbit punches. The round ends with Kampmann escaping.

Round Two:
Kampmann starts to stalk now and gets the clinch to the fence but Alves circles away. Big left hook causes Kampmann’s face to pop back. Alves lands small jab combos and Kampmann now bleeding from the bridge of his nose. Kampmann just misses with the kick again. Big right straight pops Kampmanns head back again. Kampmann comes forward with a successful onslaught that lands two out of four shots.

Round Three:
Kampmann comes forward with hooks to setup the takedown. Kampmann stuffs and reverses to attempt a body lock takedown. Alves works away. Big low leg lands for Alves. Jab, cross lands for Alves. Hook lands for Alves. Alves barely dodges big straight kick and lands a hook that shakes Kampmann. Alves follows up jab, cross and goes for the double-leg. Kampmann grabs the guillotine on the way down and that is all that’s needed as Alves taps.
This will mark Kampmann’s second straight victory in the promotion with his last over prospect Rick Story. Prior to that the fan favorite had suffered back to back controversial decisions to Diego Sanchez and Jake Shields. The Dutch kick-boxer now holds victories over top fighters Carlos Condit, Jacob Volkmann, Paulo Thiago, Rick Story, and Thiago Alves.
