Josh Thomson made the most of his Octagon return tonight at UFC on FOX 7 in San Jose, by stopping former number one, lightweight contender Nate Diaz.
Early on, Thomson met the forward movement of Diaz with several well time leg kicks, but despite the blows, his opponent continued to press on. As the fight proceeded, both men were able to land several punches, before Thomson swept Diaz to the mat as the round ended.
In round two, Diaz once again came out aggressively, but it wasn’t long before he was tagged by beautifully timed right head kick from Thomson. As Diaz staggered back, Thomson swarmed in for the finish, and after several hammer fists from the top position, the fight was stopped.
It should also be noted that Diaz’s corner threw in the towel as Thomson finished the job. Great Octagon return for Thomson.
