The injuries just keep coming as Jose Aldo is now forced to pull out of his planned title defense set for UFC 149 due to an undisclosed injury. His challenger Erik Koch has reportedly said that he will still have his title fight at a postponed date.

Unfortunately for the fans, it means we lose the co-main from UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II in an attempt to salvage the following 149 pay-per-view. Urijah Faber and Renan Barao will now battle it out for the interim bantamweight title in the headline at UFC 149 at the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on July 21. The UFC can’t seem to catch a break, but at least Renan will get some extra time since he is a late replacement himself.

Obviously, Urijah was originally set to take on Dominick Cruz for a third time, but his torn ACL kept him out of the fight. Since he will be out a minimum of 9 months, they have decided to crown an interim champion, similar to the situation that happened with GSP and Condit.

As for a recap of recent injuries, main card changes include Belfort, Stann, Silva, Bisping and now Aldo in recent weeks.
