The UFC’s featherweight king Jose Aldo has been hospitalized after being diagnosed with kidney stones, it has been reported.
Speaking to MMAFighting.com, the UFC’s Brazil doctor Dr. Marcio Tannure said that the champ was taken to Copa D’Or hospital in Copacabana, Rio de Janeiro.
“I learned about this problem with Andre (Pederneiras, Aldo’s coach),” Tannure said. “He has renal calculus (kidney stones) before. He needs to send me the results of the exams so I can check it. Andre told me it’s not serious, and he probably alreay expelled the stones.”
Having been hospitalized with a broken foot following his fight with “The Korean Zombie” at UFC 163 over the weekend, suffice to say this is an added blow to the champion who will now almost certainly not appear inside the Octagon again this year.
The news will also come as a blow to the likes or Ricardo Lamas and Cub Swanson who looked next to be in line for the 145 lbs title.
Stay tuned for more updates and they come.
