Jon “Bones” Jones (15-1 MMA, 9-1 UFC) continues his dismantling of the light heavyweight division taking out karate specialist Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida (17-3 MMA, 7-3 UFC) at UFC 140 in Toronto, Canada. Here is the full play-by-play.

Round One:
Bones comes out crawling again as he did with Rampage. Jon stands. Leaping leg kick for Jones misses. Machida lands a low leg. Jones snaps a harder leg kick to respond. Leg kick for Jones but Machida counters a right hook that barely misses it’s target. Machida rushes in but unable to land as Jones jumps back. Machida lands a loud leg kick to the chest. Jones misses with a over hand right. Machida come forward landing on Jones and even stifling Jones. Machida rushes again landing one of his shots. The round ends

Round Two:
Jones comes out with a leg kick. Machida responds with the same. Jones just misses up top with high leg kick. Jones now slows on his offense. Machida comes in landing with some quick jabs and Jones clinches. Jones lands a big right. Jones gets the takedown and Jones gets an elbow in that opens Machida’s head up. Machida works up as Jones attempts to take the back. Ref. McCarthy stops action to check Machida’s gash, and it’s big. They set them back in the clinch. Jones lands knees in the clinch and Machida escapes. Machida rushes but caught with a straight and as Machida slopes Jones grabs a guillotine and puts Machida asleep in a standing guillotine.

Jones has finally broke the spell of the elusive light heavyweight belt. Bones is the first competitor able to hold the belt for two title defenses since Chuck Liddell lost the belt in 2006 to Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. The champ will now likely be looking to defend his title against either Dan Henderson or should Evans should he defeat Phil Davis at UFC on Fox 2.
