Jon Fitch is set to make his return to the cage on July 11th, for UFC on Fuel TV 4. His opponent will be a new addition to the welterweight division in middleweight veteran Aaron Simpson. This fight will match up two great wrestlers, Fitch a former Purdue wrestling captain, and Simpson a two-time NCAA Division I All-American wrestler.
Simpson looks to make the drop after a split decision loss at the hands of Ronny Markes, a fight he feels he lost due to size. Before the loss he was on a 3 fight win streak, but at the age of 37 it’s hard to tell if the drop is the best thing for his career. Trouble with cutting weight has happened to many fighters, and at an older age one can only imagine it to be even harder.
Fitch looks to get back into the cage after a 14 second knockout loss to current rising contender Johny Hendricks. Before the knockout, his only other loss was to current welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre. Jon is looking to start another win streak, after a win over Simpson that will lead him to a shot at the title.
