Former UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann says he has his next assignment, as the decorated wrestler is reporting via Twitter that he’ll fight Strikeforce vet Lyle “Fancy Pants” Beerbohm at World Series of Fighting 3.
The event is scheduled to take place June 14th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, and will be broadcast on the NBC Sports Network.
Volkmann (15-4) will be looking to rebound from a submission loss to Bobby Green in February, as well as getting cut by the promotion, which surprised some observers throughout the MMA industry. Although Volkmann has lost two of his last three fights, the outspoken fighter had won five straight before getting tapped out by submission wiz Paul Sass last May.
Beerbohm (21-2) has certainly been fancy since he dropped consecutive bouts to Shinya Aoki and Pat Healy in Strikeforce, as the lightweight has won six in a row.
WSOF 3 will also feature a welterweight tilt between former UFC contender Jon Fitch and TUF vet Josh Burkman, as well as Brian Cobb vs. Justin Gaethje, and Angel DeAnda vs. Tyrone Spong.
