According to a report by Combate out of Brazil, former UFC light heavyweight No. 1 contender Glover Teixeira will return to the Octagon to face Phil Davis at UFC 179.

The event is set for October 25 from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The card currently features only the main event, as Jose Aldo will defend his featherweight title against Chad Mendes.

Teixeira (22-3) had his win streak snapped by Jon Jones earlier this year, suffering a decision loss. It marked the first time the Brazilian had been defeated in the UFC, and first time overall since his fourth pro fight in 2005 vs. Ed Herman.

Davis (12-2) was dominated by Anthony Johnson on the same card, seeing his three-fight win streak come to a screeching halt. The former Penn State University wrestling standout is 8-2 with one no-contest inside the Octagon.

The last time “Mr. Wonderful” competed in Brazil, he scored a decision win over former UFC light heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.
