UFC president Dana White confirmed that he met with Gina Carano recently, and the two sides seemed to have a good talk. However, the discussion did not result in Carano signing any contract to fight with the promotion.

“Gina and I had a good meeting,” said White, earlier this week on FOX Sports. “I’m very confident that she does want to come back and she does want to fight.

“We do not have a deal, but we might (soon).”

Carano (7-1) recently stated her desire to return to action, and she her old Strikeforce deal was purchased by Zuffa when they bought the company. She has not competed since a 2009 loss to Cris “Cyborg” Justino.

Reports that Carano would be signed and paired immediately with current UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey were put on ice for the time being after Rousey agreed to meet Alexis Davis later this year.

Rousey, though, has stated that she believes Carano should be placed in an immediate title match if she does decide to come back to the sport.
