If you haven’t heard the rumors — former champ Brock Lesnar is not only said to be ready to make an appearance at tomorrows huge UFC 168: Weidman vs. Silva bout, but he’s also believed to be in talks with the Zuffa execs about his return to the sport. During yesterdays post-conference scrum, UFC president Dana White took questions from the media. The rumors of Lesnar were quickly asked.
“I honestly don’t know,”said White with a suspicious grin (like a man who just might know more than he wanted to say.) “Honestly?” somebody goaded. “Honestly,” White said, “I don’t know.”
White may very well not know at this point, but he also did not shoot down the rumor as he has in the past. This is also not the first time that White and Lesnar sat down to talk about his return. If they were negotiating in the past, you have to believe that Lesnar feels healthy to return after his horrendous diverticulitis issue.
“I personally think that 2013 was the best year of fights we’ve ever had in the history of the company,” White said at one point in the scrum. “It was unbelievable. And we’ve got a lot of cool things coming up this next year going right into ’14, that hopefully I can announce on Saturday.”
