April 1, 2009. The WEC champ Carlos Condit headlines a Fight Night card against the striking bad ass Martin Kampmann. Entering with eight straight victories and three title defenses, I was quick to question why Condit was not fighting to unify the titles. Kampmann would show me why, as he took the split decision. Not that it was a bad performance by the former champ, but he did admit later that there were “octagon jitters” going into the fight.
Carlos Condit plans to prove the victory was no fluke, as the two prepare to battle next week on Aug. 28 in another Fight Night headline bout. This time in Indianapolis. Both men have recently suffered a loss to top contender Johny Hendricks and are looking to bounce back and prove they are still top contenders.
