Andrei Arlovski and Mike Kyle both made weight this afternoon in Atlantic City, clearing the way for their main event, heavyweight tilt at World Series of Fighting 5 tomorrow. The event will go down at the Revel Resort and Casino, and the main will be broadcast by the NBC Sports Network.
The former UFC champ Arlovski tipped the scales at 240 pounds, while Kyle came in at just 218, which is not surprising considering he’s also competed at light-heavyweight.
It’s a big fight for Arlovski, who has continues to aim for another championship bout and a return to the UFC, as the 34 year-old is coming off a UD loss to Anthony Johnson at WSOF 2 in March. Kyle, meanwhile, is looking to build on the KO win he scored over Travis Wiuff in May, and certainly could move on to some huge fights with WSOF if can score a win Saturday night.
While all of the competitors for the promotion’s middleweight tournament made weight, as did nearly all of the preliminary card fighters, two did not. Waylon Lowe came in 146.4 for his featherweight scrap with Georgi Karakhanyan , and Jimmie Rivera weighed in at 136.6 for his bantamweight bout with Sidemar Honorio. Both Lowe and Rivera have one hour to lose the extra weight.
