Sources close to Vitor Belfort’s  camp have told that a bout between Belfort (19-8) and Yushin Okami (25-5) is currently in talks with the UFC organization, and very likely headlining the UFC 122 in Oberhausen, Germany. Nothing is official as of yet, but is a sensible match-up since Okami was also mentioned as a top contender for the middleweight belt alongside Belfort. With Silva vs. Sonnen II already being planned, as announced by Dana White himself on ESPN earlier this week, this would need to put the two other top contenders against each other in the interim.

Belfort will be coming off a five win streak in MMA, with his most recent victory against former middleweight champ, Rich Franklin at a catchweight of 195 lbs. A fight in which Belfort KO’ed Franklin early in the first. Many MMA critics have come to say that the former champ is undeserving of a title shot as he is yet to win a fight in the UFC middleweight division as of lately.

Okami is also coming off an impressive victory, defeating the very tough Mark Munoz at UFC Live: Jones vs. Matyushenko recently in early August. Okami only carries losses in the UFC against Rich Franklin, and Chael Sonnen.

Here is how the UFC 122 card is starting to look, should the fight be finalized.
