Perhaps it is not as early as the challenger would like it to be but the tentative date for Shogun Rua to defend his UFC light heavyweight belt against top contender Rashad Evans has finally been set for March 19, UFC 129. The battle will take place at the Prudential Centre in Newark, New Jersey.

Rashad Evans will be carrying a two-fight win streak, both by decision as he came back from close KO’s from Thiago Silva and Quinton Rampage Jackson. Shogun Rua in his last outing stripped the UFC belt from Lyoto Machida in emphatic fashion with a first round KO of the Dragon.

Also featured on the card will be another 205 lb. match as The Huntington Beach Bad Boy is in a must win match against a very tough Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. During a recent press conference, UFC President and former trainer of Ortiz said that if he does not win the fight, that he would be cut from the UFC.
