After an amazing victory over former light heavyweight champ Lyoto Machida this past May, Shogun Rua made the announcement he wouldn’t be able to take on Rashad Evans for a title defense as planned. Rua stated that he needed knee surgery and would be out for an unknown length of time.

Recently, Dana White spoke on ESPN’s SportsCenter, and spoke about a possible timeframe for Shogun’s return.

“We did this [surgery] in the United States with the best doctor in the country,”. “He’s recovering well, and we’re looking for mid-spring, early-summer,” White stated.
