UFC President Dana White has put a silence to Royce Gracies hints at a return to the sport at UFC 134 in Rio, Brazil. White tells MMAFighting that they have no interest whatsoever in finding a match-up at the stacked event in his home country.
Gracie has said that he is still in competitive shape and was looking to erase a loss against the former welterweight champ, Matt Hughes. After the news of the UFC’s lack of interest in the pioneer, Gracie may have to save his return for a future date.
‘At 44 years old though, Gracie (14-2-3) has not competed in the sport in nearly four years. In his last match, which took place in June 2007, he defeated Kazushi Sakuraba via unanimous decision, but afterward tested positive for steroids and was suspended for a year by the California state athletic commission.’
