It seems the heated ex-teammate battle between newly crowned Jon Jones and Rashad Evans  will not take place at UFC 133 as originally planned says MMAWeekly. Jones has reportedly suffered a torn ligament in his thumb and requires surgery that will keep him out for the Aug. scheduled title fight to Evans. Evans has already said he is not looking to stay on the shelf any longer and will fight Phil Davis as a replacement in front of the Philadelphia audience. Davis has also already confirmed that he in fact will replace Jones.

Evans (15-1-1 ) will be returning after a long layoff due to waiting for an injured Shogun Rua, then suffering his own injury. Rashads last appearance in the octagon was against Rampage Jackson back in May 2010 at UFC 114 where he was able to pull off the decision and earn a title shot.

Penn State wrestler, Phil Davis has been running on a perfect 9-0 record defeating Antonio Rogerio Nogueira recently after being a late replacement for the injured Tito Ortiz. Should Davis defeat Evans, this would solidify the up-and-comer a spot in the top of the light heavyweight division.
