Not a big surprise here as the UFC announces that Nick Diaz (25-7) is getting a second chance at UFC 137. Diaz will fight another top welterweight contender in B.J. Penn (16-7) come Oct. 29 at the Mandalay Event Center in Las Vegas, NV. Penn originally scheduled to fight Carlos Condit, had lost his opponent yesterday when the organization replaced Diaz with Condit due to Diaz not fulfilling his press conference appearances. Now the easy solution has came that Diaz will now fight Penn, essentially swapping fighters.
The issue now for the fighters may be that all four will need to prepare for a new opponent within a month and a halfs time. Are you surprised that the UFC gave the controversial Diaz a second chance? Perhaps his video apologizing for missing “the beauty pageant” yesterday was the cause for the change of heart.
