UFC president Dana White has verified that Nick Diaz has officially vacated his Strikeforce welterweight title to join the UFC for a fight with UFC champ Georges St-Pierre Oct. 29 at UFC 137 at the Mandalay Bay events center in Las Vegas, NV.

“He will give up the title, he will give up his Strikeforce title. He will come in and fight Georges St-Pierre, two guys will fight for the vacant belt in Strikeforce and we’ll go from there.”

White also mentioned the possibility of Diaz returning to Strikeforce afterwords as his new contract includes fighting in either organization.

Current top Strikeforce welterweights include Tarec Saffiedine,  Tyron Woodley, Evangelista ‘Cyborg’ Santos, and Paul ‘Symtex’ Daley. No word on this time of who or when a title fight for the vacant title will take place.
