Just hours after the news of  Diego Sanchez being forced out of his fight with Matt Hughes at the upcoming UFC 135 card due to a broken hand, Josh Koscheck releases a tweet.

“Oh ya 19 days then or something like that!!!! Either way it looks like I am in to fight matt Hugh if he takes it????”

Shortly after, Koscheck gives a full interview with USA Today’s Sergio Non.

“They contacted me maybe about two hours ago. They obviously called my manager and my manager called me, and I said, “Yeah, let’s take it.”

It’s a fight that I’ve been wanting for a long time. Now we’ve just got to wait and see if Matt Hughes will accept the fight. So we’re waiting on him.

I told them that I’m game and I’m in shape. I’ve been training so I’m ready to fight.”

The bout has not been officially announced by the UFC and is likely awaiting Hughes signature on the revised contract. Koscheck will need to shake off some ring rust as he has not competed since Dec. 2010 where he suffered a broken orbital from the precision jabbings of UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre.

UFC 135 will take place Sept. 24 at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
