Following a first round KO of former featherweight champion Mike Brown, Manny Gamburyan (11-4) was quick to call out the current champ Jose Aldo (17-1). It seems the contender will now have his shot at the title come April as the two headline WEC 51. Aldo’s manager Ed Soares on MMAWeekly radio verified that September 8 looks to be the date the two will meet in the cage.

Aldo, already being compared to the likes of Anderson Silva, has been dominating top tier opponents with lightning fast striking abilities over the recent years. Aldo showed the world why he is the champ in April against WEC favorite Urijah Faber, chopping the legs brutally for five rounds, completely demobilizing the also former champion. Aldo currently holds a 10 win-streak record over top contenders such as Mike Brown, and Cub Swanson.

Gamburyan showed a huge improvement in the striking department making quick work of the heavy handed Mike Brown in his first round KO.  Prior to that Gamburyan defeated the brawler Leonard Garcia in a unanimous decision. The same card in which Aldo took the belt  from then champ Mike Brown.

Also speculated to be on the card are Miguel Torres, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, and Leonard Garcia.
