Vladmir “The Janitor” Matyushenko has verified on the Underground and on MMAHeat.com that he will be fighting the upcoming  lightweight Jon “bones” Jones. The event is scheduled to take place at UFC Versus 2 on Aug. 1st in Salt Lake City’s EnergySolutions Arena.

This will be Jones (10-1 MMA, 4-1 UFC) second time headlining a versus card as he had his only loss on Versus 1 against Matt Hamill due to illegal 12-to-6 elbows. The event was an obvious domination on Jones part up until his disqualification. Jones last fight was against the very talented Brandon Vera in which Jones made quick work of with elbows to Vera’s head causing  Vera to tap. Later Vera discovered that the elbows had causes facial fractures.

Matyushenko (24-4 MMA, 5-2 UFC) a former heavyweight champ in the IFL had recently won a split-decision win over the very tough Eliot Marshall, which also took place at UFC on Versus 1.  Notably, out of Matyushenko’s last 12 fights he has won 11, only losing to the very tough Antonio Rogerio Nogueira.
