As the betting lines open up on the two former light heavyweight champions Shogun Rua (19-5) and Forrest Griffin (18-6), it’s once again Shogun who is favored to win says top odds makers. Griffin opens at a +160 to Shogun’s -195. Seems odd as Griffin won their first match in 2007 via rear-naked in the third.
Also Griffin is currently riding a two fight win-streak, while Rua is coming off a dominating loss to the new champion of the division, Jon Jones. Suppose that long resume including Pride Grand Prix champion kept the odds-makers optimistic on Rua despite his losses in the Octagon. Agreed?
