Following the news of Phil Davis dropping out of his UFC 133 bout against Rashad Evans (15-1-1) due to a knee injury, Lyoto ‘The Dragon‘ Machida (17-2) has been said by Kevin Iole to be stepping in against Evans for a second time to save the card. Later Iole found that it was actually a miscommunication between himself and White.
Lyoto Machida’s wife and manager Fabyola Machida had this to say regarding Machida’s refusal to take the fight on late notice.
“The fight is close and for the sake of professionalism we can not accept it. We always do our best, but there is only a few weeks [until the fight] and it wouldn’t be fair on the fans to put in a bad performance,” she told Nomundo Dos Lutas in Brasil.
