During the recent UFC Fight For the Troops 2 Q & A session Dana White confirmed that Frank Mir will be fighting Roy “Big Country” Nelson next in the heavyweight division.

“We’ve got [Roy] ‘Big Country’ [Nelson] fighting Frank Mir,” White informed. “That fight’s going to happen… that’s a fun one.”

The unconfirmed date of the bout is rumored for UFC 130 on May 28, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, in Las Vegas, NV. A card that’s to be headlined by the Frankie Edgar – Gray Maynard trilogy.

Mir will be coming off a last minute KO (via knee) of Pride legend, Mirko Cro Cop at UFC 119 in Sept. 09. Nelson on the other hand will be dealing with a recent unanimous decision loss to number one challenger Junior Dos Santos at UFC 117 in August. Prior Nelson was scheduled to compete against Shane Carwin, but with Carwin opting for surgery and a contract obligation in question for Nelson from “Square Ring Promotions” Nelson had been sidelined.
