As everyone knows airbrushing is a very common thing for those who are in the spot-light all the time. But if you take a closer look at the poster for UFC 111, you’ll notice all the fighters have their tattoos except one…Dan Hardy, who also happens to be missing his signature red mohawk as well. What was the reason for this censoring? “The Outlaw” seems just as baffled.
“I don’t know,” Hardy told MMA Junkie Radio today. “I’m not sure, to be honest.”
Hardy said he was told the tattoos and red ‘hawk were taken off because there was simply just too much going on in the poster.
“It was something to do with too much visual stimulus on the poster because obviously, the tattoo’s quite prominent and it kind of draws the eye away from the important information about the fight, the show,” said Hardy “That was the information that I got.”
But oddly enough, the usually outspoken Brit doesn’t seem to be upset by the “airbrushing.”
“It doesn’t really matter to me,” Hardy said. “Obviously, it would have been nice to have the tattoo on there, but at the end of the day, you can see my face, and that’s the important thing. If they’d airbrushed my face off, I’d be a bit more concerned.”
I personally would be kind of peeved…I mean GSP, Frank Mir, and Shane Carwin all get the keep their tattoos and it wasn’t like Hardy had a big “F**K YOU!!” across his chest…but hey at least he still gets his title shot, so I guess I wouldn’t complain too much either.
