At only three minutes away from taking the middleweight title away from Anderson Silva, Chael Sonnen was submitted and left home empty handed. Silva kept his title once again. Of losing, Sonnen said;

“It’s devastating. I can’t sugar-coat it. My heart’s broken,” said Sonnen at the UFC 117 post-fight press conference. “I came back with a silver medal. I wrestled for a world championship, I came in second. I fought in the WEC for a world championship, I came in second. Now, I fought in the UFC and again, I’m a runner-up and it hurts really bad.”

Despite losing, but not by much, Sonnen states that he has no regrets on his verbal tirade of Silva in the months leading up to their big bout. He also made the comment that he wanted a rematch right away with Silva, comparing the fight to ‘Chinese food.’

“I don’t apologize for anything, I never did, and if I ever backed off from my stance I would send myself a pink slip and move on in life,” said Sonnen. “I have one goal, it’s to be the world champion, and I’m not backing off that goal because of tonight’s decision. …I’m not Dog the Bounty Hunter. I don’t issue apologies and you’re not going to be the first to get one out of me.”

“Twenty minutes after I do it, I’m going to want to do it again. If the Commission would sanction it and would move out of the way, I’d fight him right now.

Also noting that he wants to take the belt from all the champs in all weight classes.

“If it’s Anderson or I have to go up after the guys at 205 or go on a diet and go after Jose Aldo, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “If you’ve got the belt, I’m coming after you.”
