Chael Sonnen has finally had his wish answered, as he has been announced to be Anderson Silva’s next challenger for the UFC Middleweight belt. Dana White verified this during a recent interview with Jim Rome on ESPN (video below).

Sonnen (24-10-1 UFC 3-1 ) whom is known for his high-level wrestling and controversial comments is coming off 3 big wins over top ten contenders in the UFC. In Sonnen’s most recent bout he was able to eek out a decision over fellow high-level wrestler Nate Marquardt. Sonnen has already started the trash talk for his bout against Silva saying “nobody cares about Silva, nobody cared when he considered retiring, and nobody cared about moving to heavyweight.”

Middleweight champ Anderson Silva is coming off an uneventful win against jiu-jitsu star Demian Maia. UFC President Dana White said in his interview with Rome (video below) that Silva will be cut if he put on another fight similar to his bout against Maia. White and many fans criticized Silva’s lack of respect in the ring, and seemingly lack of motivation to finish the fight when Maia was injured.
