Dennis Siver (19-8-0) vs. Diego “The Gun” Nunes (17-2-0)

This is a fight in which both fighters will look to stake a claim in the Featherweight division. Siver is dropping down after a pretty decent run at the Lightweight division. After a disappointing loss, he looks to drop some mass and hopes to make his way to the title. Diego on the other hand is looking build back from a loss to Kenny Florian. He had a chance to prove himself a legit threat to the title in that fight, but floundered against the UFC tonight analyst.

After a dismal 1-3 first round in the UFC, Siver came back to go 7-2 with his second shot. At age 33 Siver decided to drop to a less stacked division to try and string some wins together in hopes of a title shot. Siver is known for his standup abilities but does have a decent ground game having a purple belt in BJJ. He will look to work his standup while trying to avoid the ground game of Nunes.

Nunes will want this fight on the ground. Nunes has a purple belt in Jiu-jitsu, but the primary of his attacks come from ground control. Nunes is 4-1 in his last five fights. in those four wins tow are by split decision and two are by unanimous decision. He should be looking for a finish in this fight if he wants to see his name move up the ladder at 145.

The Bottom Line: Dennis Siver was having a successful career at 155 and did not move down to rejuvenate his career. He moved down to get a shot at the title. His increased focus on takedown defense will pay dividends in this fight as he is able to keep the fight standing. From there he will use a varied attack to take a unanimous decision.
