And another Strikeforce notable has defected. Heavyweight Fabricio Werdum (14-5-1 MMA, 2-2 UFC) returns to the UFC to face Roy Nelson (16-6 MMA, 3-2 UFC) at UFC 142 Feb. 4, Superbowl weekend.

This will bill be the first time Werdum steps in the UFC since 2008 where he was cut for his loss to now champion Junior dos Santos. Since then Werdum has went 3 and 1 in his Strikeforce career, being the first to stop the former pound-for-pound best Fedor Emelianenko, and only losing to the then Strikeforce champion, Alistair Overeem.

Nelson, winner of TUF season 10 will be looking to put a new string of victories together after defeating Mirko Cro Cop in his most recent bout and suffering back-to-back losses to Junior dos Santos and friend Frank Mir.

With another Strikeforce top name leaving the organization and Showtime still yet to sign, analyst have once again started questioning the lifespan of the promotion. No word from Showtime or Strikeforce on the continued movement of Strikeforce fighters.
