There are a ton of great fights booked for the UFC’s upcoming schedule, and one of them is certainly Urijah Faber-Michael McDonald, which will go down December 14th at UFC on FOX 9. Not only is it a huge fight since it will feature the promotion’s #2 ranked bantamweight in Faber, versus the #3 McDonald, but there’s little doubt the scrap will feature edge of your seat moments.

While Faber is a ridiculously talented grappler with high level striking skills as well, it will be interesting to see how he approaches McDonald. After all, “Mayday” is one those guys that consistently gets mentioned, while proving the point lighter fighters can brutally take out opponents. While appearing on “The MMA Hour” recently, Faber had this to say about McDonald’s stand-up:

“He’s a super dangerous guy,” said Faber, who is coming off a UD win over Iuri Alcantara at UFC FN 26 “I need guys who are dangerous to go out and have my best performance. … This is why I go into this sport to fight the best guy in the world. Michael McDonald in my opinion is the most dangerous striker in the division. He knocks guys out. He rocks everybody. He’s smaller and faster, it might be hard, but he might be able to make run at ‘25. He’s still growing. He’s a scary kid.”

“The real motivator in here is instinctual. Are you in a dangerous spot? You need to prove you can survive, are the man, are the better fighter.”

That’s some high praise, and men like Brad Pickett, Miguel Torres and Alex Soto might agree. It should be another great FOX card, as in addition to Faber-McDonald, the line-up includes bouts like Pettis-Thomson, Condit-Brown, Mendes-Lentz and McCall-Jorgensen. Interested?
