Two years since their last historic bantamweight title clash, the long-standing feud between champion Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber hasn’t lost any steam.

A few weeks ago Dominick Cruz posted this picture after a workout and it was quite obvious there was a distinct difference in size between his healthy leg and surgically repaired one. Never one to pass on verbally jabbing his nemesis, Faber commented on the picture with his reference to a “pirate” and his “peg leg”. Cruz, while being interviewed by Bleacher Report, offered his response to “The California Kid”:

“I’m one of two people to ever keep Faber from becoming a UFC champion. He will forever be known as the former WEC champion. He will always be a number one contender and never anything more.”

Currently rehabilitating his twice-torn ligament in his left knee, Cruz is still on the up-and-up when it comes to his rivalry with Faber. As is customary in their relationship, when one has something to say, the other’s response is usually right around the corner. While this particular dispute will have to wait, as Cruz is still months from actual heavy sparring, it still throws fuel on the fire for a potential pairing between the two in the future.

In the two-minute video, the bantamweight champ also talks about his health status and his current progress in training. He even uses a comparison between himself and another standout athlete when talking of the time-frame for the healing of his knee. If you haven’t seen it already, be sure to check it out in the above link.
