After the viscous defeat by doctor stoppage by the lightweight champ BJ Penn, Diego Sanchez (21-3) has decided to move back to his former welterweight. Coincidentally Nate Diaz (11-5) has made the same decision to move up to welterweight also after his loss to Gray Maynard in the cards.
Sanchez has seen this as an opportunity to challenge the young up-and-comer to a “welcome to the welterweight fight.” Here is what Sanchez posted on Diaz’s Twitter account.
“I agree you got robbed… I hear your going up to 170 too; I would love to welcome you to welterweight lets make it happen,”
This would be quite an interesting battle, as I am sure Diaz would not mind avenging his brother Nick’s loss to Sanchez in late 05′. There has already been rumors that Nate Diaz will fight Rory Markham at UFC 111. Nothing is in stone yet, so we may still get to see a great bout between these great athletes.
