Dana White explains that New York is the last state to be legalized because of the former UFC owners actions during the downfall of the sport.

“What you have to understand is that all the stuff that went wrong with the old owner, and all the bridges that were burned, happened in New York, said White. So we always knew that New York would be the last place to be sanctioned, and it is. Its the last place in the country right now to get sanctioned. Were actually on the budget in June. So were pretty confident its going to happen this summer.”

White may very likely be correct as the bill has passed the first step recently, as New York passed vote to move the MMA sanctioning bill to the Codes Committee. If the bill makes it past the Codes Committee, it will then be up for vote by the State Assembly.
