UFC president Dana White had nothing but positive things to say about the idea that Gina Carano wants to return to fighting.

White, speaking with reporters during his usual media scrum following Saturday’s card in Orlando, made it clear that he is a fan of Carano’s, despite only meeting her for the first time recently.

“I love what she had to say. I’m excited. Hopefully we get a deal done with her,” White said. “Wait until you guys here what this girl has to say. She’s awesome; I love it.

“I don’t think I’ve ever used this word before, but she is one of the most charming human beings I’ve ever met. Charming. I’m not talking hot or beautiful. To listen to what she has to say about fighting, it’s pretty awesome.”

White divulged into some of the conversation the two had, which centered around the fact that Carano feels she is better prepared now for a career in MMA than she was when she left the sport in 2009. Carano last met Cris “Cyborg” Justino in Strikeforce, suffering her first loss in eight pro bouts.

“The whole time she fought, she never had a full training camp. She didn’t have a real camp,” White said. “Women’s MMA was not anywhere near where it is today. It’s fascinating talking to her.

“She is 100-percent positive she can make 135.”

Carano battled some issues making weight before when she fought at 145 pounds. White also stated that any deal they get done will be a new one and will not be her current Strikeforce contract, which Zuffa purchased when they bought the promotion.

As for a timetable on reaching a contract, White said he “feels like it’s going to happen, but we’ll see. Crazier (expletive) has happened.” He also re-confirmed that Ronda Rousey, the current UFC female bantamweight champion, is completely fine with meeting Carano in her first fight back, adding, “Ronda loves Gina.”
