After there was speculation earlier this year that UFC middleweight Cung Le would be one of the coaches for the promotion’s upcoming “The Ultimate Fighter: China” series, it looks that may not be the case. Instead, it looks as though Le will be the UFC’s resident boss man during filming.
In a recent report from MMA Weekly.com, UFC President Dana White outlined what in fact Le’s role will be during the show.
“TUF China is happening,” White said. “(Cung Le) is going to be the ‘me’ in China. He’s there to remind everyone why they’re there and what’s going on. He was in the office two days ago and I walked him through everything with The Ultimate Fighter and he’s ready to go.”
Those are some big shoes to fill no? It’s also been revealed that like every other season of the reality show, TUF China will feature two fighters as coaches. Who the coaches will be, however, hasn’t been disclosed.
Le hasn’t fought now since he blasted Rich Franklin at a UFC on FUEL TV card last November. Prior to that the highlight reel striker worked his way to a unanimous decision win over Patrick Cote at UFC 148 in July, 2012. The 41 year-old wonder has spent 2013 on the sidelines due to elbow surgery he underwent.
